Abstract
Popular discourse on the Andaman Islands has been dominated either by exotic notions of insular savagery or by bourgeois-nationalist views of colonial history emphasising the incarceration of revolutionaries. Both grand narratives have silenced representations of the Andaman migrant society that has emerged as a consequence of British and Indian colonisation.
