Migration, Displacement, and Precarity in a Globalised World

The discourse of migration, especially labour migration, is dominated by the figures of remittances and assorted benefits that migration accrues. In 2012, according to the World Bank’s remittance research unit, officially recorded remittances flows to developing countries reached US$406 billion, an amount which far exceeds official development assistance figures by many folds and even dwarfs foreign direct investment in several countries.
